Never Say Die: Chitrangada Eyeing Hollywood!

If you remember India Couture Week 2014, you'll probably remember Chitrangada Singh's Marilyn Monroe act. Donning a black gown and a diamond neckpiece, the actress danced to the beats of Monroe's popular number, Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend.

Cut to a year later and that ramp walk may have got the better of her.

Now, Ms. Singh is fishing for movies in Hollywood. The 39-year old, whose career is now being looked after by talent agency Exceed, has been making frequent trips to the US with the agency's head honcho Uday Singh Gauri to meet Hollywood agents.

It is no secret that her career has not shaped up in Bollywood the way she wanted. After Desi Boyz (2011) and I Me Aur Main (2013), she has vanished from the big screen. Her next film Babumoshai Bandookbaaz (co-starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui) has got derailed, and though a section of the media has said that the movie is back on track, we hear that the road hasn't smoothed out on that totally yet.

In May 2014, Chitrangada's alliance with Sudhir Mishra too bit the dust. After launching her in Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi in 2003, the filmmaker and the actress worked together almost exclusively over the next decade. But when Chitrangada signed up for sexy avatars in Desi Boyz and Shirish Kunder's Joker, her possessive mentor blew his top off. Feeling claustrophobic, she shut the door on Mishra.

Around September 2014, she started taking advice on her career from Salman Khan and even discussed the possibility of working with him in one of his home productions. But it doesn't seem to have borne fruit till date.

Things have not worked out for Ms. Singh in her personal life too. In April 2014, she divorced her husband golfer Jyoti Randhawa. Their bone of contention, sources say, was Chitrangada's never-dying ambition to make it big in Bollywood and her refusal to say goodbye to arc lights.

Last heard, the Inkaar actress had pressed the accelerator on her plans to produce movies. Not just that, she has also signed a film opposite Masaan actor Vicky Kaushal where she plays a Pakistani.

We wish Chitrangada 'All the Best' for Hollywood.
